My name is Bryant Mosbey, and I am blessed to serve as the Physical Education/Health Teacher, 8th Grade Boys Basketball and 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach at Thompkins Middle School in Evansville, IN.
I was born on October 24, 1983. My wife, Alex, is an 8th grade math teacher at North Jr. High. My father, Don, is a retired teacher and administrator with the EVSC (Culver, Glenwood, Oak Hill, McGary, Christa McAuliffe, AIS-First Avenue, and AIS-Diamond). My mother, Susan, is a retired EVSC teacher (Culver, Dexter, and Stockwell). I am truly a product of the EVSC. In addition to the roles my wife and parents have served, my grandfather, Les Ewing, was also an EVSC employee. He started as a physical education/health teacher at Centennial, then continued on to administrative roles at Stanley Hall and Fairlawn. I attended Hebron Elementary School, Plaza Park Middle School, and Harrison High School.
I am proud to say that I am a graduate of Indiana University, where I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Physical Education and Health Education). I served as a student manager for the Men's Basketball Team for 3 seasons before I began my student teaching at Edgewood Jr. High School in Ellettsville, IN. I have a Masters of Education degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
My educational career began at Harper Elementary School here in Evansville where I served as a long term substitute for their Physical Education classes. At the end of the 2007-2008 school year, an opportunity presented itself that I could not pass up. All my life, I had been told that Thompkins was the best middle school in Evansville. After interviewing with Terry Yunker (principal), Rhonda Carter (assistant principal), and Vic Chamness (director for PE/Health), I was selected to represent Thompkins Middle School as the Boys PE/Health teacher as well as the Boys Reserve Basketball Coach. I have worked for 4 different Principals (Terry Yunker, Bryan Perry, Nichole Alcorn, and Kara Hartz) and 5 different Assistant Principals (Rhonda Carter, Audra Offutt, Nichole Alcorn, Kara Hartz, and Katie Reiter).
I am currently in my 12th year at Thompkins as the Physical Education/Health teacher, 10th year as the 8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach, and 5th year as the 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach. I also served as the Cross Country Coach for 7 years, 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach for 1 year, 6th Grade Girls Basketball Coach for 1 year, and was the Boys Varsity Golf Coach at Harrison High School for 5 seasons, guiding them to the State Tournament for the first time in school history.
I am married to Alex (Goad) Mosbey. We were married on July 9, 2011. We attend Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evansville. Our daughter, Charlotte, is in Kindergarten at Holy Redeemer. Our sons Deacon and Elijah attend the Child Life Center. We also have an 8 year old Goldendoodle named Eleanor. In my spare time I enjoy running (2018 Boston Marathon finisher), exercising, golfing, watching all sports on TV, and spending time with family and friends.
